Newsmakers

Many years ago, no one noticed us. Journalists took pictures of overflowing garbage containers. We may have been around and so got included in the frame. That was all. We had never heard of conferences or meetings regarding waste management. Of course no one thought to invite us.

Times have changed since then and we are in the news. We attend meetings and address conferences. We even organise some of our own! It’s not just about our photos and interviews in the news. We want real changes in our lives. We want out contributions to be recognised. We cannot achieve those only on our own. We need the help of governments and others like you. So we are in the news telling India and the world about our issues; our concerns; our struggles; our challenges; and our victories...
